Flowable placental connective tissue matrices for tendon repair: A review

چکیده

Tendon injuries are associated with considerable pain and disability. Owing to the hypovascularity hypocellularity of tissue, natural tendon healing is slow ineffective. Traditional conservative surgical treatment options fail address underlying pathology. As a result, healed mechanically incompetent prone degeneration rupture. Therefore, new biological methods have been suggested enhance repair regeneration. Flowable Placental Connective Tissue Matrices (FP-CTMs) represent promising means promote healing. Like non-flowable placental scaffolds, FP-CTMs possess innate properties placenta provide structural biochemical extracellular matrix components. Unlike their counterparts, added benefits minimal invasiveness capacity fill irregular spaces. can by providing three-dimensional for cellular attachment proliferation while decreasing inflammation limiting adhesion formation. The present report reviews biology, pathology, healing, current modalities, followed comprehensive literature review, evaluating clinical application repair. Recent research suggests that use in safe efficacious further indicates modulate environment improve outcomes. However, existing evidence limited retrospective case series no control group. additional work must be performed better understand applications therapeutic FP-CTM compared conventional treatments.

Structure of the tendon connective tissue.

Tendons consist of collagen (mostly type I collagen) and elastin embedded in a proteoglycan-water matrix with collagen accounting for 65-80% and elastin approximately 1-2% of the dry mass of the tendon. These elements are produced by tenoblasts and tenocytes, which are the elongated fibroblasts and fibrocytes that lie between the collagen fibers, and are organized in a complex hierarchical sche...

Achilles Tendon Repair, A Modified Technique

Background: Wound complications following open repair for acute Achilles tendon ruptures (AATR) remain the subject of significant debate. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of covering repaired AATR using well-nourished connective tissues (paratenon and deep fascia) to avoid complications after open repair.   Methods: In this case series study, open repair was performed for 3...

A Flowable Placental Tissue Matrix Allograft in Lower Extremity Injuries: A Pilot Study

Damaged connective tissue commonly leads to lower extremity injuries. These injuries can result in inflammation, reduced mobility, and chronic pain. Conservative treatment may include orthotics, offloading the injury, physical therapy, and/or NSAIDs. If conservative treatment fails, surgical intervention may be required. Even after successful surgery, these procedures often result in reduced jo...

Barbed Sutures and Tendon Repair-a Review.

INTRODUCTION Traumatic tendon lacerations are a common problem encountered by hand surgeons worldwide. Although the use of barbed suture to repair tendon lacerations has gained theoretical popularity in recent years, there is little information available regarding the safety, efficacy, longevity, or complications encountered when used in tenorraphy. In this study, we review the available litera...
